    2018 Rosé

    NEW RELEASE

Deliciously elusive fresh fruits including strawberry and raspberry are supported by white blossom of jasmine and citrus. Whilst this is a great wine to drink alone, we suggest great company and seafood are the perfect accompaniments.

    About the Range

A pure expression of our site and the season.

    The Season

The 2018 growing season began with a later then average budburst, and led into excellent conditions for flowering and set, auguring well for an even and good sized crop. However 200mm of December rain came and created an array of growing concerns, including large dense canopies and ensuing disease pressures. All hands on deck, removing unnecessary shoots, leaves and bunches in this time and a mild dry January-March saved this wonderful crop. The resultant fruit was ripe, balanced and the wines are approachable early with good prospects for medium term cellaring. An excellent season of ripe, fresh flavours and understated power.

    Winemaking

This is a deliberate and considered Rosé, which starts from dedicated parts of the vineyard to ensure ripe flavours, fresh fruit and a trademark chalky fine finish.

After hand-picking into 450kg bins, the fruit is placed overnight in a coolroom for the stalks to dry up,and the enzymatic reactions to slow down allowing a more gentle and pure extraction of juice at dawn the following day. Whole-bunch pressed grapes and yields less than 500 litres per tonne ensure delicate, pale and highly flavoured juice. Final blend was 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Shiraz. Fermented in stainless steel at moderate temperatures (up to 22 degrees) to enhance mouthfeel. No added acid or sugar, dry balanced and made with minimal intervention.

    Tasting Notes

Very pale copper with a bright vibrant pink hue. Deliciously elusive fresh fruits including strawberry and raspberry are supported by hints of fennel and white blossom of jasmine. The palate is savoury and refined with a supple creamy texture. The finish to the wine is superb, fresh fruits and a long chalky delicate phenolic edge that is trademark of this single vineyard wine.

Whilst this is a great wine to drink alone, we suggest great company and seafood are the perfect accompaniments.
