    About the Range

A pure expression of our site and the season.

    The Season

The 2016 season will be remembered as the earliest and most compressed on record. Though we started on the same day as 2015, on February 14th, we finished on February 28th a whole four weeks earlier. A very warm dry Spring followed by a dry Summer ensured fruit ripened early but in perfect condition. Late January rains of 40mm freshened the vines at just the right time and the wines are looking expressive, flavoursome and balanced. Moderate alcohols and acids this year will ensure wonderful drinking in the mid-term. Sauvignon Blanc grapes for Frances were picked on February 26th.

    Winemaking

After a very long and gentle press, the deliciously syrupy Sauvignon Blanc juice was fermented in stainless steel (75%) and old French barrels (25%). When the balance of flavour, acid, sweetness and alcohol was just right, the chilling was put on the tank and the barrels were sent into our cool room and chilled to 4deg at this stage we to stop the fermentation. By stopping the fermentation we ensured fantastic freshness and perfume, with just the right amount of sweetness remaining.

    Tasting Notes

Pale straw with a slight green hue, almost translucent.
Frances has a bright and tropical aroma true to her Sauvignon Blanc heritage. Marmalade, honey and glace pineapple flavours burst with some delicious sweetness. The best is saved for last as Frances finishes with a fresh clean finish.
